pleasantville-3

The Pleasantville baseball and softball teams headed east on Highway 92 Tuesday evening for non-conference action at Sigourney. The Trojan baseball team was stymied 15-0 in a game that concluded after just four innings.

The Savages started the scoring early with two runs in the first. The majority of the damage was done in the second, when Sigourney put seven runs across the plate. Another run in the third and five more in the fourth were enough to close the game out in a run-rule situation. Pleasantville was unable to figure anything out offensively, picking up just one base hit in the game. The Trojans fall to 0-2 on the season, and return to action this evening at Knoxville. That game will air live on 95.3 KNIA.

The Trojan softball team was held in check by Sigourney in a 9-4 loss. Pleasantville scored a run in the top of the first to take the early lead, but the Savages quickly responded in the bottom of the frame with a run of their own. Four more Sigourney runs in the second and four more in the fourth were enough to secure the win. Pleasantville tacked on two runs in the fifth, but each team was scoreless after that point. Pleasantville falls to 0-2 on the season, and is back in action this evening at Albia.
