Many of the boys and girls of summer wearing blue and white for Twin Cedars were waiting for nearly four months to play sports. Tuesday night the Sabers unleashed their fury on Murray to a combined score of 26-0 in the softball and baseball games. The softball squad built up a 9-0 lead after three innings and sent everyone home early in an 11-0 win in five innings. Grace Bailey got the win, going four innings and giving up four hits and one walk while striking out five. Caity Reed went 2/3 with a home run and three RBI. The Sabers are 1-0 and travel to class 1A #4 Wayne tonight. At the baseball diamond, the Sabers tore up Murray 15-0 in four innings. Coach Mark Schroeder tells KRLS Sports with a good start in conference play, he thinks they can be a contender.
Schroeder:
“And like everyone knows Lamoni is stacked and they’re the clear favorite. But I think we’re right there with them at the top of the conference, and I hope our guys won’t settle for anything less.”
The Sabers will host Collins-Maxwell tonight in a non-conference game at 8:00pm.
