As the 60th annual Knoxville Nationals get closer on the calendar, the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce has made a few announcements regarding Nationals as the country continues to deal with COVID-19. Knoxville Chamber of Commerce Director, Hannah Vander Veer tells KNIA/KRLS News the chamber decided against facilitating the housing program this year as they want to keep the safety of residents and race fans at the forefront. Vander Veer says at this time no decision has been made regarding the Nationals Parade as the chamber continues to receive feedback from the community as well as business leaders, emergency management and public health. A decision regarding Nationals is expected from the Knoxville Raceway by July 1st.
Vander Veer says the current situation is not ideal as residents want to gather as a community but according to Vander Veer the chamber wants to have a good foundation in place so they can have momentum going into next year and make sure the community is stronger than ever.
