knoxville-panthers-3

The Knoxville Panther baseball team took down the Pleasantville Trojans Wednesday 10-5 earning their first win of the 2020 while Pleasantville drops to 0-3 to start the season. Knoxville was led by senior Carter Bailey who started the game on the mound for the Panthers striking out 6 hitters on just 40 pitches as he was pulled by Head Coach Turner DeVore in the top of the 4th inning. Coach DeVore tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he decided to pull Bailey from the game after 40 pitches because he just wanted to get him some work before Friday. DeVore says the plan originally was to get him work on Tuesday but since the game got out of hand early he waited until Wednesday but still wants to use him on Friday so he kept Bailey to a hard pitch count of only 40 pitches.

Knoxville got the scoring going with two outs in the second inning following doubles by Jaxon Zuck and Ben Olson that gave the Panthers the early 5-0 lead that they would not relinquish. Knoxville will next head to Eddyville on Friday to take on the Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont Rockets in a South Central Conference showdown.
