The Indianola City Council approved an agreement with a consulting firm to work with city staff and the planning and zoning commission to help implement the Elevate Indianola comprehensive master plan. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News this is the next step in updating the city codes to best practices.
“This company is going to work with us on a comprehensive review of our zoning, site plan, subdivision codes. A lot of the codes that when things are built and developed must be complied with, and through those codes that is how we are protecting and preserving the community character that was identified through the comp plan. This process is going to be a two-year process broken up into phases. We have it budgeted for this first year, and we will be primarily focusing on things such as development, zoning, site plan, subdivision, things like that.”
Waller also said the plan outlines what the community envisions for the future of Indianola, including an emphasis on growth and amenities for new developments.
