Knoxville found six runs in the last two innings of a comeback win over Pella Christian by a 6-3 margin, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS Thursday night.

Pella Christian frustrated Knoxville’s offense early, as despite getting lead-off runners on base in six of the seven innings, couldn’t find a run early on, namely due to some clutch outfield plays by the Eagles’ Sierra Pleima in the 1st and 3rd innings that prevented the Panthers from taking advantage of several scoring opportunities.

The Eagles found some success in the first five innings against Freshman Ashlyn Finarty, finding a run in the bottom of the first on a Cheyanne Collins RBI Single and a Natalie Harrill two-run triple in the bottom of the fifth, both coming with two outs.

But the Panthers persisted, and took full advantage of two costly Eagle errors in the sixth inning to eventually tie the game. Pella Christian seemingly lost momentum, and in the top of the 7th, Knoxville grabbed their first lead, which was good enough to come away with a comeback victory.

That hit by Jadyn Streigle was her second of the game and the only for extra bases for the Panthers. Emma Dunkin, the Finarty sisters Ashlyn and Reilly, and Ciara Heffron all finished with two hits. The freshman Finarty finished with her second victory in as many games this season in the circle, striking out five Eagles and scattering five hits.

Pella Christian and Knoxville are hoping the rain stays away tonight, and if it does, the Eagles will travel to Norwalk, while the Panthers head to Eddyville to take on the EBF Rockets. Hear Knoxville live on 95.3 KNIA at 7:15 p.m.
