The Pleasantville softball team will cap off its opening week of games today, traveling to the North Mahaska Tournament. The Trojans will take on the hosting Warhawks, as well as fellow Marion County foe Twin Cedars. Head Coach Jan Haugen says it’s always an interesting tournament, and his team will have to be prepared for two tough battles, despite playing smaller schools.
“The first year, North Mahaska thumped us pretty good, and I think we got by Twin Cedars. Last year it was just the opposite. Twin Cedars is a very good 1A ball team, they’re very well-coached. I think they’re going to be tough, they have some really good athletes. It doesn’t matter what class you play, 1A, 2A, whatever, if they have good ball players, you need to be on your game because that’s really important.”
Pleasantville will try to continue the momentum of an 11-0 win over ACGC on Thursday night, and cap off the opening week with a bang. Action begins at 9:00 a.m. at North Mahaska High School in New Sharon.
