The Indianola School Board approved a delayed start date for the year-round students at Irving Elementary from July 9th to August 4th. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News the administration cited the recommendations from Warren County Public Health with the hope of a return to normalcy over the next several months.
“I think what came out of our conversation with them was what a lot of us felt, that we just were a little bit uncomfortable with coming back that quickly. They also reinforced the feeling that we would have a continued drop in cases as we move forward into August, and that the August start date was realistic.”
Sathoff also said Indianola is in a unique position with the year-round school, as they will get a chance to work out some problems before the regular school year begins, and the start date will serve as a learning experience not only for the Indianola School District but for all schools around the area.
