The Knoxville Food Youth Initiative is wanting to remind families of the free food available to children 18 and younger in Knoxville and the surrounding areas. Children in Knoxville and the surrounding area can receive free breakfast and lunch all summer as the Knoxville Food Youth Initiative is continuing to provide free meals. Families can pick up meals on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11:30am-12:30pm through August 7th with pickup in Knoxville now at the front drive of the High School. In Bussey, meals can be picked up from noon to 1 p.m. in front of Katy Did’s store and in Melcher-Dallas meals are available for pick up on the east side of the city park from noon to 12:30 p.m. When it comes to meal pick up, there are no income requirements, no sign up and no questions asked.
The Knoxville Food Youth Initiative is also continuing to ask for help distributing the meals. Anyone interested in volunteering to help with the meal distribution is asked to contact the Knoxville Food Youth Initiative at (641) 828-7652 or by emailing k_fyi@yahoo.com.
