A Bussey man was arrested Wednesday after an argument turned violent, leading to felony charges. According to court documents, law enforcement officers were informed that a physical altercation had taken place at a residence in the 2200 block of 238th Place in Bussey. Officers located the victim who told them that on Wednesday, June 24th she and 37-year-old Lucas French got into an argument and that French had grabbed her by the face and neck and pushed her down on a couch, where he proceeded to hold her down by her throat.

The victim stated that she began trying to get French off of her and had to kick him in the groin to get him off. French then grabbed a pair of vice grips, and hit the victim in her shin and thigh with those, and also struck the victim in the forehead with his hand. The victim told French she wanted to leave and he proceeded to grab her by the arm to prevent her from leaving. Eventually, French fell asleep and the victim was able to leave. In addition to the fight, French allegedly also fired a weapon at the victim as she was standing in front of another residence. French was arrested and charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a class D felony, domestic abuse assault display or use of weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor, false imprisonment, a serious misdemeanor, carrying weapons, an aggravated misdemeanor and reckless use of a firearm, a simple misdemeanor.
