Construction of phase two of the Competine Trail Project is underway almost 15 years after phase one of the project was completed in 2005. Knoxville Parks and Recreation Director Brandon Nemmers tells KNIA/KRLS News construction is currently underway on the trail. He says the new phase will extend the trail on the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics grounds to a safe crossing on Highway 14, down Gordon Drive along Competine Creek to Roche Street and then along Competine Creek all the way to 5th Street. He says the addition will add plenty of more opportunities for walking, biking and other outdoor trail related activities.
Nemmers says the project is scheduled to be completed around the end of September and early October. For more information and to hear the complete interview with Nemmers, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
