indianola-3

The Indianola baseball squad had an early lead against Gilbert at Principal Park Tuesday afternoon, but couldn’t hold on and fell to the Tigers 7-3. Indianola scored two runs in the top of the first inning taking advantage of some free passes. The Tigers answered back with four runs in the bottom of the inning, and never looked back, scoring another two in the third, then another in the fourth. The Indians threatened throughout the game, and made a push in the top of the seventh with the bases loaded and one out, scoring a run on a Preston Anderson sacrifice fly, but couldn’t push another run across. Head coach Casey Aldridge tells KNIA Sports the guys are doing much better in the field.

“We always talk about the different areas of baseball we need to get better at and improve at, and defense is a big one for that. I’m proud of the guys for that, and we are showing a lot of improvement with that.”

The Indians are now 8-9 on the season.

The Indianola Softball squad travels to Dallas Center-Grimes tonight to take on the Fillies for a doubleheader. Game two of the doubleheader will be broadcast live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at approximately 7pm.
