Local restaurants may soon see a boost due to a partnership between the City of Indianola, Central Iowa Shelter and Services, the Indianola Chamber of Commerce, and the Helping Hand of Warren County for a program to help those in need. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the city was approached to participate in a program that will use federal dollars to purchase meals from local restaurants, which will then be distributed by the Helping Hand of Warren County.

“We will go out and compete for funds through the grant program, I think it is around $62,000 we can access, which will take care of meals provided by local restaurants who will be paid for their time and material through the program. So just working to support the local economy, working to support an industry that was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, while also working to help those less fortunate in our community.”

Waller also said council approved the participation in the project, and more details will be released as they become available.
