After a brief rain shower and a severe thunderstorm warning late Saturday impacted much of Marion and Warren Counties, more chances for severe weather remain possible this week, with hot, humid air returning by the weekend.
The National Weather Service predicts strong thunderstorms capable of producing large hail and damaging winds are possible on Tuesday and Wednesday. Much-needed rainfall may total as high as an inch by Wednesday evening, and possibly higher depending on the strength of storms.
The mild pattern will continue until thermometers start rising again by Friday, with daytime highs expected to reach the mid-90s and heat index values will likely top 100 on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. A prolonged stretch of hot air and humidity is expected to continue in the long-term forecast from the Climate Prediction Center following this weekend as well.
