Despite a big hit to start and a chance to take a 7th inning lead, the Pella baseball team couldn’t find a victory on the road to Washington Tuesday.

A Nick DeJong two-run home run was how the Dutch started the scoring, but they gave up two runs in short order in the bottom of the 1st. The game stayed tied at 3-3 after the top of the 3rd, but Pella stranded eight on base in the game, including the bases loaded in the top of the 7th, only for Washington to walk it off from there.

Jason Knoxville was 3-for-4 from the plate, and Clayton Cummings earned the tough luck loss after 4 ⅔ innings in relief, with 5 strikeouts and only three baserunners allowed.

Pella falls to 9-10 and weather permitting, will host senior night festivities and host ADM this evening. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30, and pregame starts at 7:15 p.m. on 92.1 KRLS.
