The Pleasantville baseball team opened the Class 2A District 12 postseason Monday evening, playing host to conference foe West Central Valley in a game that was postponed from Saturday due to weather. It only took four innings for the Trojans to come away with a 17-0 victory.

Pleasantville took a 1-0 lead after the first, but the offense came to life after that. The Trojans scored eight runs each in the second and third innings to take command. It was a scoreless fourth, and Pleasantville advanced in the playoffs in dominant fashion.

Teron Mount had three base hits to lead the way, including two doubles and two RBI’s. Wyatt Clark, Cael Berglund and Trevor Pulse each had two base hits as well. Jake DeJoode was the pitcher of record, pitching three innings, giving up no hits and no walks while striking out eight batters.

Pleasantville improves to 4-13 on the season. They’ll be back in action tonight in the district semifinal round. It’s a tall task for the Trojans, with a road trip to take on #1 in 2A Van Meter. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Van Meter.
