The PCM softball team gets the Class 3A postseason underway this evening, with a road trip to conference foe Nevada. The Mustangs finished the regular season with a 5-14 record, but are coming off a strong victory in the regular season finale. Nevada is 10-8, but has lost three of four entering postseason play.

It’s a matchup of teams with similar stat lines, which should make for a competitive matchup. The Cubs won both games when the teams met in the regular season, including an 11-10 victory just six days ago. PCM head coach Shaun Hudnut says that Nevada is a challenging team to face, but is hoping his team can use the advantage of having played them twice to translate to a win.

“Nevada is a good team. It’s definitely going to be a challenge. But having seen them, that’s an opportunity for us to play well and hopefully squeak one by them.”

PCM will try to get revenge against the Cubs when the teams face off at 7:00 this evening in Nevada. Tonight’s winner advances to Friday’s regional semifinal against either Davis County or Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.
