The PCM softball team began the Class 3A Region 4 postseason Wednesday evening, traveling to take on conference foe Nevada. The Mustangs dropped their third close contest to the Cubs of the season, falling 12-9 in a back-and-forth affair.

PCM jumped on top 1-0 in the top of the first inning, but Nevada put together a six run first of their own to take the commanding lead. PCM stormed back with four runs in the top of the second to get to within 6-5, and the teams were both scoreless in the third.

The Mustangs took the lead back with two runs scored in the top of the fourth to make it 7-6. However, Nevada had another big inning in the bottom half of the frame, scoring five runs to take the lead for good. Two more Mustang runs in the top of the fifth made the score 11-9, but the Cubs tacked on the game’s final run in the bottom of the frame to complete the scoring.

The loss ends PCM’s season with an overall record of 5-15.
