The Red Rock Rivalry is renewed on the softball diamond with the winner advancing in the Class 4A Regional playoffs.

Pella heads over the Red Rock Dam to take on Knoxville as the postseason begins for both schools. The Panthers won the regular season matchup between the teams 10-6, but the Lady Dutch own the Varsity Bound-era series, up 11-5 overall. In that June 23rd game, Pella struck first and took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the 3rd, but couldn’t hang on, and the Panthers scored the next 10 runs of the contest before Pella added four runs in the 7th.

Knoxville Softball Coach Carla Smith thinks the key to her team having success will be how they approach their at bats.

For Lady Dutch Head Coach Teresa Thompson, it’s been a matter of finishing plays, innings, and games, and in order to advance, the young Pella team will have to take advantage of every opportunity.

The game will be broadcast on 92.1 KRLS for Pella fans and 95.3 KNIA for Knoxville fans, with pregame coverage starting at 6:45 this evening from the home of the Panthers.
