indianola-3

An early lead was not enough for the Indianola baseball team in their opening round of postseason play at WDM Valley Friday evening, falling 3-1 to the Tigers in a game heard live on 94.3 KNIA. The Indians got ahead early on a Tyce Johnson RBI double in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead, which held until the third inning when Tigers capitalized on several Indians miscues to tie the score at 1 apiece. Valley scored the go-ahead run in the fifth, then held off an Indianola bases loaded situation in the top of the sixth to keep the lead, before adding an insurance run in the bottom half of the inning to seal the win. Head coach Casey Aldridge tells KNIA Sports this year will always be something he remembers because of the perseverance of the squad.

“The crazy season, the crazy year these guys have been through, especially the seniors. Not having a spring season, not knowing if we were going to have a season or not. With the chaos of the COVID stuff, to have 10 seniors stick this out, and not all of them played, is pretty special. It was a pretty special group.”

The Indians graduate 10 seniors from their roster, and finish with a record of 11-13.
