The season has come to a close for the PCM softball team following Wednesday’s loss to Nevada in postseason action. It was a heavy schedule of games for the Mustangs in the four-week season.

PCM lost four of its first five games, with the win coming on the road against conference foe Saydel. In the season’s second week, PCM held their own against a talented Lynnville-Sully program in non-conference play. That segued into an impressive 9-0 win over Greene County.

A close win over Roland-Story occurred the night before a cancellation of a road game against Knoxville, due to safety concerns. That was the final win before a season-long five-game losing streak.

A doubleheader split with Gilbert preceded three straight close losses. The regular season came to a close with a solid victory over non-conference opponent South Tama. PCM faced Nevada for the third time in the postseason, and fell 12-9 in a back-and-forth game.

PCM finished 5-15 overall and 4-10 in conference play. Hailey Schutte is the only senior that departs the program.
