PCM senior Derek Brown has wrapped up his career as a PCM Mustang. After finishing the 2020 baseball season, he is now set to head to Council Bluff to join the Iowa Western Reivers baseball program. Brown says he’s looking forward to joining a collegiate program, and hopes to be able to join the starting rotation as soon as possible.
“I’d love to be a starting pitcher there, but whatever my role is, I’m going to accept it because to play there right away would be pretty big for me. I’ll go anywhere from starting pitcher to middle reliever. I don’t really see myself as a closer much, but hopefully a starting pitcher.”
In Brown’s senior year at PCM, he started four games and appeared in six. In 19 ⅓ innings pitched, he sported an ERA of 4.71, giving up 15 hits and 11 walks while striking out 26 batters. PCM finished 7-9 overall. Iowa Western gets their 2021 season underway on March 13th against Iowa Central.
