The Knoxville softball team battled top-ranked Carlisle for the first four innings in Saturday’s second round of regional play, but couldn’t keep the Wildcats down in an 11-2 loss. The Panthers started strong in the first two innings, flashing the leather with several strong defensive plays to keep Carlisle runs from scoring in the first two innings, before the Wildcats struck for four runs in the bottom of the third.

Knoxville answered with two runs in the top of the fourth with a leadoff single from Maddy Findlay and Ciara Heffron reaching on an error, followed by a sacrifice fly by Madelynn Liston and an RBI single from Brittany Bacorn to cut the lead down to 4-2. It was all Carlisle afterwards however, striking for five runs in the fifth and another two in the sixth to seal the win.

The Panthers end their season with a 10-5 record, and graduate three seniors.
