Central College ranked among the nation’s best in the Women’s Golf Coaches Association’s All-Scholar Team top 25 rankings.

The Dutch ranked 24th after posting a 3.639 team grade point average for 2019-20. Central was the only American Rivers Conference squad in the top 25. The University of Texas at Dallas topped the list with a 3.860 mark.

Under departing coach Tim Wilkinson last fall Central had four players named to the American Rivers academic all-league squad, which requires a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA. Named were Mollie Abkes, Kirsten Dean, Maggie Langenfeld and Emily Opsal.

Opsal was recently named Central’s nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award. A business management major, she graduated with a 3.97 cumulative GPA. She was a three-time all-conference honoree. The Dutch are now coached by Tabitha Schumacher and are set to open the fall campaign at the Luther Norse Classic in Dike, Iowa Sept. 5th-6th.
