Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds proclamation to require in-person schooling this fall did not drastically change the Return to Learn plan for the Indianola School District, as the plan had already included in-person learning with an option for virtual learning. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News

“We have been following guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics that says that districts should have the mindset of getting students back for face-to-face instruction. So we were committed to trying to do that. We decided on five days of instruction with a shortened schedule to help plan and deliver online instruction, remote learning, for families that either had health issues that would preclude them from sending their students back or for families that just weren’t ready to send them back yet.”
