The Twin Cedars Softball Squad, while not reaching its ultimate goal on Monday night in the class 1A regional final did benefit from seeing pitching from several different non-conference teams that are already at the state tournament. The Sabers played Collins/Maxwell and Albia, both have qualified for the state tournament. Coach Zack Dunkin tells KRLS Sports his team was much more ready for Monday’s game with Wayne after seeing the Falcons earlier in the season and other teams who are still playing.

Dunkin:
“It did help to see them earlier, and the other teams like the Albias and the Van Meters of the world. The pitching that you get to see, and Berdt just stepped up her game after we got that run.”

The Sabers lost to Wayne 5-1 on Monday in the regional final and finished with a 20-6 record.
