The Pella City Council approved two measures Tuesday relating to major water main projects in the community. Assistant City Administrator Corey Goodenow says two separate bids from Synergy Contracting were approved for Clark Street Water Main improvements and construction of a new main along Fifield Road from West 9th street extending north to West Washington Street. He says the cost of the Clark Street project — which just shy of $367,000, will be shared with Pella Corporation, while the $737,000 of new construction on Fifield will be paid through tax increment financing. Work on both water mains is expected to begin in August, with final completion by December. The council deferred final award of the Clark Street project until a cost-sharing agreement could be drafted and approved with Pella Corporation.
