As information continues to be compiled from the 2020 United States Census, the city of Pleasantville is expected to once again see population growth. Pleasantville was one of two cities in Marion County that saw a population increase from the 2000 Census to the 2010 Census. City Manager Joe Mrstik says that he has seen the growth first-hand, and is expecting a large increase in population.
“It is growing, and it’ll be interesting to see when the census comes out, what that number is. The last census I think there were only two towns that grew in Marion County, Pella and Pleasantville. While Pleasantville is small, we take a lot of pride. And with the traffic counts that we’re seeing on Highway 5, I anticipate our census to go up quite a bit.”
The population was 1,694 as of the 2010 Census, an increase of 155 since 2000. Pleasantville has increased in population in every census since 1960.
