Today we continue the top 10 countdown of the top moments of the 2019-20 school year with number seven. Traveling to the Tulip City over the last several years for the Indianola boys basketball team have produced instant classics, as the trio of evenly matched teams have always had games go down to the wire. This year was no different the Indians came out on top in a pair of games at Pella and Pella Christian. Against the Dutch, the Indians had an early lead only to see Pella grab control in the second half. Trailing by 10 late, the Indians hit three straight three-point shots to get back in the contest, took the lead late, and survived a potential four-point play at the end of regulation to win it.
Against Pella Christian, the Indians had no answer for the Eagles for much of the contest and trailed by 19 late in the third quarter. A late Indians run got the lead down to 10, and eventually trailed by just three with less than a minute to go when freshman Drew Kingery hit a three to tie the score, then AJ Toigo hit the game winning free throw to complete the pair of comeback wins in Little Hawkeye Conference play. The Indians claimed a share of the LHC title with class 3A state champion Norwalk.
