The #4 moment of the school year for PCM was quite possibly the biggest upset win for the baseball team, a road victory over Gilbert.

Game two of a doubleheader saw the Mustangs seeking revenge following a 4-1 loss in game one. PCM scored a run in the first, which Gilbert answered in the bottom of the frame. Immediately following in the second inning, the Mustangs exploded with six runs in the top of the second to go up 7-1.

The Tigers got to within 7-4, but PCM responded with three more runs in the fourth to go up 10-4. The sixth inning saw the Mustangs increase their lead to 13-4, and it was looking like PCM would cruise to an upset win on the road.

Gilbert did not make it easy, scoring eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to get within 13-12. The score held, as both teams were scoreless in the seventh, and PCM had themselves an upset win.

Connor Bennett had four hits in the game, while Caleb Duinink drove in four runs. PCM used five pitchers in the game, and gave up seven hits to a powerful Gilbert lineup.

It was one of only four losses for Gilbert on the season, a team which finished ranked #6 and was the Class 3A runner-up. PCM finished 7-9.
