360-nationals

While sprint car racing in southern Iowa will look a bit different over the next two weeks, the racing starts off tonight with the 30th Annual My Place Hotels 360 Nationals at the Knoxville Raceway. Of all of the events scheduled these next two weeks, the 360 Nationals are the only event that is running as scheduled and on the original dates. Over 100 drivers will compete over the next three nights to see who is the 360 National Champion. One driver who hopes to be standing on top of the podium on Saturday night is Cory Eliason. While he is mostly known for being a 410 driver on the All-Star Circuit of Champions he has proven he not only can compete but win in a 360. He has been racing in Knoxville for the last two weeks testing and trying out things on the car and hopes they have found what they were looking for.

Eliason:
We tried some stuff and we were not good in qualifying at all, then we went back to something that would work better in the heat race and went from seventh to first in the heat race, but it really doesn’t count for much because we were still back in the feature. We got up to eighth last weekend.”

Along with Eliason tonight 2010 Knoxville Nationals Winner Tim Shaffer, who finished second this past Saturday in 360 competition, is running NASCAR Legend Tony Stewart’s car, Dominic Scelzi out of California, and Brady Bacon, who won the Cornbelt Nationals earlier this year, is putting a wing on this week.
