indianola-3

Today we continue the top 10 countdown of the top moments of the 2019-20 school year with the top moment of the year. The Indianola football team needed wins late in the season to have a chance to make the class 4A postseason, and needed to go through an old rival in Johnston to have that opportunity. The Indians hadn’t beaten the Dragons in well over 10 years, and fell in 2018 28-0, but stellar pass defense would give Indianola the edge. The game was scoreless through halftime, with neither team able to find an edge offensively, but the Indians finally broke through in the third with a Kael Kolarik 10 yard touchdown run, giving the Indians a 7-0 lead. A dropped punt led to the Indians getting the ball first and goal, but the Indians had to settle for a field goal to take a 10-0 lead. With Johnston driving, Peyton Boozell had the biggest play of the night to seal the victory.

Indianola held the Dragons to 6-27 passing on the evening for just 91 yards, and held them scoreless until the game was well out of reach to bring the top moments of the past school year. The Indians went on to make the postseason, falling at WDM Valley to end their season.
