Construction is moving forward and residents continue to express interest in a new telecommunications utility developed by the City of Pella. Keetah Dodson with Pella Fiber says more than 2,600 Pella-area households and businesses have signed up for site surveys to have the capability of a gigabit internet service, along with cable and voice capabilities. Dodson says nearly one-third of the total main conduit for nearly 75 miles of fiber has been installed, with crews from Excel Construction continuing to push ahead. City of Pella crews are working on the back side to complete site surveys, with installation of drops from the main line set to homes starting soon.
