Heat and humidity will ramp up across south central Iowa this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, highs will reach the upper 80s and low 90s starting this afternoon and continuing into the early part of next week, with heat index values approaching the upper 90s and possibly 100 in the afternoon on both days this weekend. Those planning to be outdoors for extended periods of time should stay hydrated, wear loose-fitting, light colored clothing, and take frequent breaks in air conditioning.
All pet owners are reminded to check on their animals as well, and avoid strenuous activity during the peak heating hours. Chances for pop-up, isolated thunderstorms are in the forecast over the next several days as well. Stay tuned to 92.1 KRLS for the latest weather information.
