indianola-3

With only three seniors lost to graduation, the Indianola softball team will bring back a total of 11 letterwinners for next season. Highlighting the incoming senior class will be top hitters Destiny Lewis, who hit .393 and 10 home runs, and Alley May who hit .371 and 4 home runs from the leadoff spot, with standout pitching Kate Kralik who went 9-5 with a 1.34 ERA. Head coach Stacy Evans tells KNIA Sports the culture of success at Indianola softball is apparent with how many returning players are still a part of the program.
“I looked up at the stadium, and I saw how many returning athletes came out to support us. Some that didn’t even know these current players, that were so far away from them, but that’s our system. That’s the tradition that Indianola has put out there. With three seniors leaving, I want to see them in the stands supporting this group, and calling them by their nicknames, and coming back to see them. That’s what’s going to build you up, and we’re gonna need to continue to build on that and those strengths and remember those types of things to prepare us for next season.”
The Indians went 14-6 on the season.
