A local baseball team has won a state championship. The Trojans 12U squad won a USSSA state tournament on Sunday in Indianola. The Trojans were the 11th seed out of 12 teams and got one of the toughest draws as they had to play the seventh and second seeded teams in the class A elite division. They beat the number two team and lost to the seventh seed. They also knocked off the top seeded squad twice. Coach Tom Roff tells KNIA Sports all 12 players on the team contributed in one way or another…
Roff:
“We noticed from this we had 12 kids on the team and they all contributed, and they all had huge moments. Whether it was one game or all the games they contributed to the success. We hit really, really well and that was a huge emphasis this year.”
This was also a special win for Roff as a coach as he is retiring from coaching after 29 years. He adds he wants to be a dad and watch his kids play sports.
