Much needed rain passed through a large portion of the state Monday, and should have a significant impact on the current drought conditions affecting much of western Iowa. According to the US Drought Monitor, nearly all of Warren County is in abnormally dry conditions, with portions of Madison County to the west and Polk County to the north with moderate to severe drought conditions, and further extreme drought conditions further west. Only the small southwest corner of Marion County is currently classified as abnormally dry.
