Competitive triathlete Susan Lyons is joining the Central College triathlon coaching staff as the sport makes its launch at the school this year.
Lyons is a 2000 Central graduate, and has completed several sprint triathlons. She has twice finished an Ironman 70.3, also known as a Half Ironman. She is training for her first Ironman 140.6 and has received USA Triathlon Level I certification.
Lyons earned a master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University in Florida and is a science teacher at Pella Middle School. She’s also an adjunct instructor in Central’s education department. She previously served as a softball assistant coach at Lynnville-Sully, Pella Christian, and Winter Springs High School in Florida.
