The City of Pella and UnityPoint Health – Grinnell Regional Medical Center recently entered into an agreement that will allow the City’s telecommunications utility to connect to GRMC’s internet and video provider at the Grinnell hospital’s facilities. This collaboration is a critical step towards establishing the City’s new utility and enabling high-speed internet access for the Pella community. Keetah Dodson with Pella Fiber says construction of the Pella Fiber network began in June 2020 and is projected to be completed by the end of the year. She says the goal of the homegrown fiber-optic network is to provide Pella citizens and businesses with access to high-speed internet, cable television, and voice services, connecting customers as early as the spring of 2021.

“Our partnership with UnityPoint Health – Grinnell Regional Medical Center is invaluable to the City of Pella,” stated City Administrator Mike Nardini. “The Grinnell and Pella communities have a long history of working together to promote the common good in our region. Our partnership with UnityPoint Health – Grinnell Regional Medical Center will help facilitate future cooperation which should benefit both communities.”
