The Knoxville Library has renewed its accreditation with the State Library of Iowa. The library has been recognized for its efforts in all areas of library operations including governance and funding, staffing, library collection, services, public relations, access, and facilities. Director Roslin Thompson says that the library is at the highest level of accreditation, and that nearly all of the standards for accreditation have been met.

“We are at tier 3, which is the highest level. What it means is that the library meets standards, as defined by the State Library. There’s a whole book on all the standards that you have to meet, from the very basic to the top tier. We are happy to say that we just recently turned in the report, and we have renewed our accreditation at tier 3.”

The Knoxville Library meets 80 of the 85 criteria for accreditation, earning it the highest level. To view a list of the standards, click here.
