Simpson College has announced President Marsha Kelliher has made a change in the Athletic Department, appointing Keith Hackett as Interim Athletics Director.

Current Athletics Director Bob Nutgrass took over in 2018 from longtime AD Brian Niemuth, and has been with Simpson for 30 years in roles such as Sport Science and Health Education Department Chair, head men’s and women tennis coach, and NCAA compliance coordinator, and will now return to the faculty. President Kelliher said in a statement:

“We are extremely grateful for Bob’s years of service to Intercollegiate Athletics at Simpson College. His long-standing service to the institution and to our athletics department is unsurpassed. His legacy will be long and we are grateful he will return to the classroom in January.”

Hackett has previously worked in Iowa Division III athletics as the former Cornell College Director of Athletics, and will serve in the interim role during the national search for a permanent Athletic Director.
