The Indianola City Council held a study session regarding the Indianola Square Streetscape Project Monday evening, which included giving direction to city staff to move forward with bike lanes on Buxton St. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the bike lanes will connect several trails in the area.
“This is working off of a trail plans that the city has already had in place. Doing the conversion on the square from one-way to two-way traffic, we wouldn’t need two bike lanes, previously we’ve had one on both Howard and Buxton, you don’t need to have the two separate lanes we can just have the one.”
Waller also said with the shared bike lanes on one street with two-way traffic, it will save the city approximately $4,000 per year.
