The Melcher-Dallas Football Squad brings back several key members of a team that went 2-7 in 2019. Coach Pat Ferguson tells KNIA Sports his team is already farther ahead at this time of the season then last due to the experience returning to the line up.
Ferguson:
“We are so far ahead of the game compared to last year, and it was my first year last year, and the guys were getting used to how my brain works for football. A lot of the guys that played last year got a ton of varsity experience last year and they’ve been around me for baseball and now back to football. I think it’s huge to have players returning that know your system.”
Returning this season is quarterback Steven Krpan, who threw for 809 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2019. His favorite receiver was his twin brother Ryan, who caught 37 passes for 635 and seven scores. Running backs will likely be by committee this season as Ryan and Steven Krpan plus Cole Metz will likely pull most of the weight in the backfield. The Saints get the season underway August 28th against Mormon Trail.
