At Senator Chuck Grassley’s visit to Weiler on Friday, employees and constituents asked questions and expressed concerns. Engineering Manager Megan Weiler-Green told Grassley that tariffs are making it difficult for Weiler to conduct international business.

“Tariffs have hurt us. That’s money that comes directly off our bottom line and off of our customers’ bottom line. And that’s something that’s difficult for us to predict, because the tariffs are not applied evenly, and we just don’t know what we’re getting into until we’re into it. So it becomes difficult to sell parts internationally, to sell whole goods internationally.”

Grassley had no direct response to her concerns about tariffs, but noted that among the 35 industrialized nations, the United States would be relatively uncompetitive with a 28 percent corporate tax rate he fears a Biden administration would impose.
