Marion County has a Census self-response rate of 72.9%, which is 10th best in Iowa, and the state has the 6th highest in the nation at 69.2%. The City of Pella currently has a 75.9% response rate on the US Census, while Knoxville is at 68.2%. US Census workers are performing in-person visits to contact those residents and families who have not responded via mail, email, or telephone. All census takers have completed COVID-19 training on social distancing and other health and safety protocols before beginning their work in neighborhoods. If someone visits your home to collect information for the 2020 Census, check to make sure they have a valid ID badge with their photograph, a U.S. Department of Commerce watermark, and an expiration date.
