The deadline to show interest in buildings 27 and 28 at the Knoxville VA campus has passed. Two parties have shown interest, meaning that the city of Knoxville will now receive proposals within 30 days. Mayor Brian Hatch explains what comes next in the process.

“We did have two people interested, so at this point, basically it means we’ll move on to step number two. That is, they’ve shown their interest, now it’s time for us to reach out saying ‘Yes, we understand that you’re interested. Now show us your proposal, what do you plan to do with those buildings.’ September 25th is the deadline, and once that’s passed, we will take those proposals, review them, and see if it’s something that works into the master plan that we have coming up here. The county, the city, the state historical office, all three will review those to see if it’s something that fits in our plan. If it does, we’ll try to continue to work with them to move forward, and if it doesn’t, we’ll look at other options.”
