Late summer heat settles into the region this week. According to the National Weather Service, afternoon high temperatures will climb into the mid 90s throughout south central Iowa daily through Thursday. However, dew points will remain in the 50s to low 60s, so heat index values won’t get much higher than 100 degrees. Residents are reminded to use extra precautions by staying hydrated and in air conditioning whenever possible.
Abnormally dry conditions are in place throughout the region, and with little to no precipitation in the forecast this week, they are expected to potentially worsen into drought. Stay tuned to 92.1 KRLS for the latest weather information.
