The City of Indianola, Indianola Chamber of Commerce, The Helping Hand of Warren County, and Central Iowa Shelter and Services have partnered to provide hot meals to those in need and provide a boost to local restaurants with the Indianola Eats program. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the city was approached to participate in a program that will use federal dollars to purchase meals from local restaurants, which will then be distributed by the Helping Hand of Warren County.
“We will go out and compete for funds through the grant program, which will take care of meals provided by local restaurants who will be paid for their time and material through the program. So just working to support the local economy, working to support an industry that was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, while also working to help those less fortunate in our community.”
Participating restaurants will be providing meals in the Dollar General parking lot (1803 W 2nd) this and every Monday evening at 5pm from through Sept 28.
