The time has come for the Pleasantville Trojans Volleyball Team to continue the jump they started to make just a year ago.
The Trojans are coming off of a strong 2019, finishing with a 16-9 record. This comes after winning just 14 games in the previous four years combined.
However, it seems unlikely that they will top last year’s total as Pleasantville is only slated for 10 total regular season games and tournaments in 2020.
This doesn’t stop head coach Joel Allman from seeing the potential his girls bring to the table and he feels the program is ready to ride that momentum into what he feels is a stacked West Central Conference.
“So last year was very successful for us, with just our wins-losses and also just the culture of the program. It took a big jump in that area. I would say coming into this year, we have a chance to be improved at a lot of different positions. I feel like we have some girls returning that are going to be better. Then I’m hoping some of these new faces will step up and fill the positions of girls that graduated.”
He’s not kidding. The Trojans lost 5 seniors from last year, including Sam Entinger, who now plays collegiately for Simpson College. Replacing an all-state caliber player like that is hard, but Allman likes what he sees among his group, speaking highly of Seniors Cheyene Pagel and Breanna Benge.
Pleasantville begins their season tonight as they play host to Earlham. The Trojans’ second tilt comes this Thursday at Des Moines Christian.
