With several key players from the squad lost to graduation, and a lot of young talent vying for the open spots, the Indianola volleyball squad will see the players carve out their roles more and more as the season goes on. Head coach Kent Halstead tells KNIA Sports there are no permanent spots on his team, everyone will have to fight to keep playing the same as any year.
“Every week is an open competition, and every day in practice we tell our kids that. We don’t have starters on our team, we have volleyball players. I’m proud of those athletes that we have on the team, and hopefully we can do well.”
The Indians begin the season ranked #15 in class 5A by the girls union.
